CREATING LIFE-CHANGING IMPACT WITH RECONFIGURABLE REHAB ROBOTS

About
Charukesi Healthcare Private Limited (CHPL), is building the next generation of modular,
configurable rehabilitation robots- the first of its kind globally – a unique collaborative robot
that is modular and configured to be used in different phases of rehabilitation. The platform
technology will have configurable capabilities to add machine learning (ML), intent detection,
brain interface, VR, etc. to implement newer approaches to rehabilitation. Our modular
robots enable, better than previous efforts, a therapist to plan and build up the damaged
functionality through physiotherapy and neuroplasticity.

Story of CEO
Vaidy Narayanan
(B.E Information Technology, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore)
Vaidy’s passion is challenging the status quo and trying to make a meaningful difference in
people’s lives impacted by impaired mobility due to paralysis. An ongoing quest to find self-
sustaining solutions led to the concept design of a reconfigurable rehab robot - a unique
world’s first collaborative robot that is modular and configured to be used in different phases
of rehabilitation. This collaborative robot is being built in Charukesi – my second innings as a
biomedical device entrepreneurial pursuit.
The first entrepreneurial foray, an accidental journey, started in 2016 and resulted in a
universal 100% safe overground walking system with body weight compensation to enable
people with paralysis to sit stand, and walk in hospital settings. The innovation has been
clinically validated device.
In the process of delivering on this innovation execution, Vaidy has built an ecosystem of
global, multidisciplinary collaborators in rehabilitation robotics and a high-performance team
that helped to slowly but surely build trust with the medical fraternity.
Vaidy is a technology, sports, and music enthusiast. He has completed multiple half-
marathons and aspires to keep running and learning.
